Charlie Thomas
Charlie Thomas cut his teeth as the in-house engineer at the Pink Floyd-owned Britannia Row Studios in West London. Starting as an intern, after a short course in sound engineering and audio technology, Charlie rose through the ranks to take over as chief in-house engineer and studio manager within 18 months. During his time at Brit Row, Charlie worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Pink Floyd, One Direction, London Grammar, Ella Henderson, Anna Calvi, Little Mix, 5SOS and more.
Since Brit Row’s retirement in 2016, Charlie has been working freelance, across various studios in London and further afield. They include Assault & Battery, Konk, Abbey Road, Livingston, Metropolis, Vale in Worcestershire and The Village Studios in LA.
Charlie is now a resident at The Kinks-owned studio, Konk, in North London, where he has a writing and production studio above the main Neve room. He is currently collaborating with artists such as Calum Scott, James Smith, James TW, Call Me Loop, Rothwell, The Beach and more.
Charlie teaches our audio engineering and acoustics modules in terms one and two, covering all of the different hardware we have including mixing consoles, microphones, outboard and more.
