Lester Smith

50 years ago, Lester Smith joined EMI and became an integral part of the Abbey Road Story. From Paul McCartney and Roy Orbison to Alexander Desplat and John Williams, over his 48 years working within the studio, Lester has befriended a huge number of iconic artists and, as many will agree, has become a legend in his own right. Since the early 70’s he has been the custodian of Abbey Road’s microphone collection, the largest collection of its kind in the world, and his knowledge and warmth have become an essential part of the Abbey Road experience to staff and artists alike.
