Carlos Lellis
Carlos has been part of Abbey Road Institute since its inception. As the Programme Director, he worked with a small team to establish the Institute and worked closely with Abbey Road Studios to develop the course curriculum, helping to create a programme that combines technical expertise with the practical skills and professional insight needed to build a career in today’s music industry.
An experienced engineer, producer, academic and published author, Carlos brings a distinctive combination of industry practice and educational expertise to his role. He holds an MA in Creative Media and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music.
Alongside his work at the Institute, Carlos remains active as a recording engineer and music producer. His credits include projects with The Navarra String Quartet, the BBC Elstree Concert Band, Grammy Award-winning composer Sir John Tavener, and Norwegian artist and Grammy Award winner Thomas Dybdahl, among many others.
Before joining Abbey Road Institute, Carlos spent many years teaching audio and music production, helping aspiring engineers and producers develop their craft and establish successful careers. His former students include professionals who have gone on to receive some of the industry’s highest honours, including Academy Awards, Grammy Awards and the Mercury Prize.
Through his continued work in both education and the recording industry, Carlos brings current professional practice directly into the classroom, giving students the opportunity to learn not only the technical foundations of music production and sound engineering, but also the creative thinking and professional standards required to succeed in the industry.
