Hit the ground running

Our students share their first impressions after two weeks on the course

We often say that our students eat, sleep and breathe Abbey Road Institute. So our new September class were in for an exciting and intensive induction during their first week. Programme Director, Carlos Lellis, set the scene during the first day then they jumped straight into the course. The week included an introduction to ProTools, the studio environment, sound theory and the first steps in the history behind Abbey Road Studios and engineering.

After two weeks our students share their first impressions:

“You start learning from day one. The environment and the atmosphere is awesome. You are surrounded by a team, students included, of highly professional and skilled talents. Here at Abbey Road Institute people take very seriously what they do, and they expect the same from you”. Andrea

“I already feel like I’m part of a group and that I’m learning a lot. I’m looking forward to collaborating with musicians from different backgrounds as well as having lessons and guest lectures from the best in the business.” Marco

“We work in a great atmosphere by sharing music tastes, music sessions and also devices. The access to the rooms (2 production suites, the mix room and classroom) makes it easier. And it feels like the teachers have so much to teach us.” Joana

“My first week was amazing! I love being in such an inspiring environment, where everyone can give me something different and where I feel that I can give something to everyone too.” Antonio

“This week was one of the most immersive experiences of my life. It was like being the youngest member of family with an amazing history and legacy!” Pedro

“I’ve really enjoyed the first week. It’s exactly the change of pace I was looking for and I’m so glad I started here! The variation of learning is already huge, and to be using ProTools in the first week is awesome.” Harry

“This is not something to be taken lightly as the future is so open to those that work hard and to those that can be creative.” Matthew

It’s the end of their second week now and our new cohort will be part of today’s recording session in Abbey Road’s Studio Two with legendary sound engineer John Dunkerley, the University of Chichester’s brass band followed by violinist Lisa Ueda and pianist Daniel Rinaldo.

Could this be you?

If you think you want to be part of this learning experience you can apply now for our next Advanced Diploma in Music Production and Sound Engineering which starts in March 2018.
