Shannon Mahoney
Shannon Mahoney is a freelance editor and sound designer who recently graduated with a distinction on our Advanced Diploma in Audio Post Production for Film and TV.
Growing up in New Hampshire, Shannon developed a love for art, music, and theatre. Before completing our course, she studied for a BA degree in Filmmaking and Anthropology at Bennington College and an MA in filmmaking at the London Film School.
While studying here, Shannon developed skills in dialogue, SFX, music editing, foley, surround mixing and Dolby Atmos. Since then, she has continued to build an extensive portfolio working across various genres and formats. Including documentaries, narrative fiction and trailers. She has edited over 20 short films and has gone on to sound edit and mix short films, features and more. Additionally, she has worked on films in seven languages – increasing her intuitive communication and collaboration.
Throughout the years, Shannon has lived and worked in various places, including, Portland, Oregon, London and Chicago. Working hard to develop her craft as a specialist certified in Avid Pro Tools, Shannon has also worked on successful projects viewed at film festivals all around the world. Including Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival, London Seasonal Short Film Festival and Sydney Lift-off Film Festival.
She recently completed a dialogue edit on Joe Swanberg’s produced film Monkey’s Magic Merry Go Round.
Right now, Shannon resides in Brooklyn, NY and is in the process of editing a small podcast while she continues her search for more freelance opportunities. As for what the future holds, Shannon Mahoney hopes to find a position as a Mix Assistant or Mix Technician in a post house. However, still seeks to pursue her freelance gigs in the meantime.
