Guy Buisson
After graduating from Abbey Road Institute, Guy Buisson went straight into the third year of university at the University of West London. There, he studied ‘Recording, Mixing and Production’, and has since graduated with a 1:1.
Whilst in his third year of university, he actually began working as the Front of House Sound Engineer at the notorious Amersham Arms, where he still works to this day. He is also a part-time runner at Dean Street Studios in Soho, where he is quickly learning everything he can about engineer commercial recording sessions. Buisson does all of this whilst also doing freelance mixing and mastering and is finding that the more he is progressing, the more projects he gets to work on.
As a FOH Sound Engineer, Buisson is responsible for managing all elements of running a live show. Working with various equipment and people, he says that he can sometimes set up and mix up to 9 bands a night! As a runner at Dean Street Studios, he is mostly assisting with the setup and pack down of sessions. He also spends a great deal of time assisting with file prep for mix sessions (including for Dolby Atmos mixes).
Guy works frequently with fellow producer and Abbey Road Institute alumi, Daisy Rutter. They also have a song out together titled ”Bitch Boy Red Wine.” Buisson says they are working on more music to release together, and are co-producing for several artists they met through live sound work.
The Alumni wishes to continue writing and producing, as well as learning more about how to be the best studio engineer possible! With an end goal to create his studio work to become full time and say a sweet goodbye to his career in live sound.
