Miguel Brierley
Miguel Brierley is a skilled multi-instrumentalist who works as an Assistant Engineer for 2200 Studios, (formerly Record Plant in Sausalito, California). Famously home to the recordings of Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours, The Eagles’ Hotel California and Kanye West’s The College Dropout, (to list a few).
His role at 2200 often includes preparing the studio for recording sessions and assisting the Acting Engineer with necessary changes in the live and control rooms. This involves managing microphones, the patchbay, headphones, the room set up, and sometimes prepping a ProTools session.
Since completing our Advanced Diploma in Music Production and Sound Engineering, Miguel has been developing his connections and experiences in the music industry. A personal career highlight for him was working on a voice-over session for an animated film with Emmy-nominated Sound Designer, Bob Edwards.
Miguel tells us: “I’m so excited to elevate the sound of any artist that enters our doors,” about working at 2200 Studios. In addition to working there, he is also a Composer on an up-and-coming PBS documentary called Climate California. It’s a docu-series about climate change through the lens of activists and native people in California.
In between composing and working as an assistant engineer, the alumnus also runs a local business on Instagram for homegrown guitar pedals.
In the future, Miguel Brierley hopes to become an established engineer in the music industry.
